Financial Facts

IIKPS's wildlife carers are all volunteers. The rescue team is on stand-by 24 hours a day, seven days a week for all wildlife, not just koalas.

Members involved with long-distance rescue and releasing of koalas are reimbursed 20 cents per kilometre for fuel out of donations made to IKPS.

Members involved with hand-raising baby koalas the rescue or care of other native wildlife do so totally at their own expense.

Donations are also used to publicise the phone numbers for the 24-hour wildlife ambulance (eg the purchase of koala rescue fridge magnets) and for educational purposes (eg the purchase of photocopy paper used for information and activity packs for primary school children).

Membership fees cover the following expenses:

m compulsory annual government  fees

m compulsory public liability Insurance

m the postage of quarterly newsletters to members

m the printing and postage of membership cards

m other administration costs

Ipswich City Council has paid for the registration and insurance of the wildlife ambulance for the past three years and has agreed to do so for the next three years.
